THE BASEMENT IS FINISHED!!!!

I'm so excited!  We're in the homestretch of our makeover project!!! We can now add the family room, office and stairway to the list of completed projects.

The office just might now be my favorite room in the house. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!!!

Randy had previously built the desk area from stock cabinets I had already painted them the trim color, and then distressed them.  We added the leftover faux stone wallpaper (from the dining room project) to the backsplash.  I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out!

The wallpaper looks soooo real! (even close up!)

I  bought a new counter height chair, which I also LOVE!
We painted all of the basement walls the same color as we used upstairs.  Interestingly, every room looks different.

We added shiplap to the outer wall.

The family room took a little longer than I anticipated.  We painted and added shiplap to the staircase & fireplace wall.

We added shiplap to the staircase and once again painted the wall color to match the rest of the house.  We also painted the stair treads and handrails black.

One of the most exciting parts of this project was that Randy hid all of my cords for the fireplace!

When I looked back at the fireplace wall from the seating area, I thought everything looked great. However, the view looking into the seating area still seemed a little boring to me. I decided to add the "wood plank" mural to the wall opposite the fireplace to add interest.

This is the view coming coming down the stairs.  The sunroom will still get a little mini makeover in the spring when we can take all the plants back outside.
The new chandelier in the stairway came completely unassembled. I literally had to put the thing together from scratch.  I was so proud of myself when it actually worked! I got it for a great price, so it was totally worth the time I spent putting it together.

By the way, I think the last time I signed off I said the master bedroom and bathroom was our next project.  As you can see, we decided to tackle this first.  This time I really mean it, LOL. :)

The Laundry/Bathroom is finished!!!

We're finally finished with the laundry room.  Yay!!!

So Randy did the built-ins for the washer and dryer and we bought stock unfinished cabinets for above and trimmed them out.  We had to build a platform to cover the drain and also built a little access box to cover the ugly valves.  All of the mechanics of the room are hidden!

We used simple peel and stick "wood look" flooring.  It's inexpensive and super easy to install.  I think for a basement laundry room it is perfect.

I found this early 1900's wash stand at a local flea market and I couldn't be happier with the result.  It was the perfect size for our space.  Randy just needed to fit it for the vessel sink.  He also cut around the faucet so the drawer is still functional and added some shelving inside.  I forgot to take pics of the inside, so I'll add those later. I love the new farmhouse lighting and birch mirror, and of course we needed to add some shiplap! :)

I'm still trying to figure out my accessories in here, but for now I still  have up my winter decor.

Next is the master bath and bedroom. :)

Another Room Complete

We're back!!! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

I'm happy to say we've been able to check another room off the list. The guest bedroom is finished! Yay!!!

The furniture in this room is my husband's childhood furniture that we had previously painted for this room and the headboard was made by my husband using an old door.

The bookshelf above dresser covers an old window (see below), that a previous owner left exposed when they added what's now our sunroom.

We've taken down the Christmas decorations, but decided to leave up everything that I could consider "winter decor"

I made this sign over the holidays. I couldn't find a stencil in the right size, so I had to freehand the letters.  The spacing wasn't quite right, but it was a lot of work, so I'll leave it for now.  Maybe someday I'll take it down and try again.
Lastly, we've still been working on the laundry/bathroom.  The shiplap is complete on the other two walls and the floor is in.  We've been waiting for the vessel sink to arrive to finish it.  It is being delivered today, so everything should be finished this weekend.  Pictures will be coming Monday, so check back then.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
